Who Is Lissa Duty?
Lissa Duty is a branding and digital marketing strategist. When you speak with Lissa, you’ll know immediately that she is passionate about her work and all things digital.
Lissa serves as the Managing Partner at Rocks Digital Marketing. She works with the Rocks Digital team in running day-to-day operations and ensuring that Rocks Digital client websites look great, perform well – and attract search engines and consumers to buy from their clients.
Formerly known as DFW Rocks Social Media (one of the largest digital marketing conferences in Texas), in 2020 Lissa transformed the company into a full-service digital marketing agency, Rocks Digital. During that time when people were shifted into staying home and businesses were closing, Lissa was growing a business that focused on helping other businesses continue to thrive in the changing digital landscape.
During her spare time (which isn’t much) Lissa can be found speaking about the importance of online branding and leveraging digital marketing at conferences and for groups around the DFW Metroplex.
Get the Backstory on Lissa Duty
Lissa is the author of two social media books (one about Twitter, one about LinkedIn) and countless articles and guides, some of which are uncredited.
In the work she was doing at the time, Lissa discovered she possessed a talent for leveraging online social media platforms to brand clients and small businesses. As a result, she took the next step and founded her social media consulting firm in 2009.
In 2012, Lissa observed that Social Media Day (a national event), was just not getting the attention it truly deserved. Professionals were celebrating Social Media Day with tweetups and happy hours, while Lissa saw the need for more attention. In response, she organized the first-ever all-day social media conference held on Social Media Day (June 30), founding the DFW Rocks Social Media Conference. (The conference was later rebranded as the Rocks Digital Marketing Conference, but that’s a story for another time.)
Over the years, Lissa has worked with many people and businesses to help them attract more customers to their websites and brick-and-mortar locations. Her expertise and assistance to clients covers much more – websites, social media, email marketing, content creation, print marketing – pretty much anything digital.
Lissa has vast work experience spanning 30+ years, including entrepreneurial social media consulting, customer service, marketing operations manager, office manager and executive assistant. She has always had that hands-on “go-getter” determination, and leverages her analytical and creative abilities to stay organized and focused on achieving success for her clients.
Prior to shifting Rocks Digital to an agency, Lissa served as Director of Brand Marketing for a technology company. Today that company is a Rocks Digital client.
Lissa started early, as her first marketing position was actually at age 12, doing food demonstrations in grocery stores. You have certainly heard someone ask, “Would you like a sample?” as you push your cart toward a food demonstration table. That could have been Lissa you were talking to! Later in life at Marketing Professionals, she served as Communications Center Manager, and finally, as Marketing Operations Manager until the company ceased operations in 1998.
Lissa’s Past Accomplishments
Lissa’s past accomplishments include being Assistant Organizer for the DFW Social Media Marketing Group (with over 1,000 members at the time); Assistant Director for BizLink Global, a national professional networking group; and Co-founder and President of the Virtual Assistants of Dallas-Fort Worth.
Along with women such as Arianna Huffington, Forbes Women and Ali Brown, Lissa has been recognized by She Takes on The World as one of 25 Wonder Women. She has had the opportunity to work with Mari Smith (declared to be “Pied Piper of the Online World” by Fast Company), and many other well-known professionals in the industry.
Before founding LissaDuty.com, Lissa started in the social media marketing industry in early 2009, managing social media accounts for clients of Shama Hyder, who has been recognized as “An Online Marketing Shaman” by Fast Company.
Previous positions include MP Services, New Concepts in Marketing, Career Design, Raytheon Payroll Center, the Walmart Distribution Center Payroll and Transportation offices and The State of Texas. These varied experiences and the skills and talents she acquired have given her valuable insight into the scope of work required for organizations.
